The clip is below if you'd like to view it. It's the final clip for Name That Movie as Bill R. of The Kind of Face You Hate took home the prize. Congratulations to Bill R.
I've always liked the idea of online games and building up credit or free shipping for DVDs at Amazon allowed me to have a prize to give away but I was always a bit disappointed at the limited number of participants. That said, Name That Movie is officially over. The first ever DVD Giveaway I did here at Cinema Styles took place at one time with everyone competing at once. Bill won that one too but Kimberly, Marilyn and Adam all came within minutes of beating Bill to the punch. If I do another game in the future, it will be more like that one. For now though, Bill has won which means I'll soon be ordering him another Rob Schneider movie and shipping it out. Thanks to everyone who played regularly (Bill, Marilyn, Arbogast, Flickhead, Ed, Fox and Rick mainly) and thanks to everyone else who popped in on occasion and took a guess.

Name That Movie, Round 2, Clip 14
Last week Arbo guessed correctly and it was good to have him back in the game. After thirteen clips there are only five names on the points board with Bill in the clear lead. Today a short clip and if no one gets it, a second short clip from the same movie will go up just because the first one is so short. Good luck.

Name That Movie, Round 2, Clip 13
It's time for Name that Movie again. Will clip 13 be unlucky for Bill and Flickhead? Will someone else - Bob, Thom or someone new to this round - come up with the answer? We shall see. Good luck.

Name That Movie, Round 2, Clip 12
Here's the clip for this week. There's nothing obscure about this one. Most movie lovers have probably seen it at some point so I expect it will be quick work today. Unless of course, it's been a while since you've seen it and you don't remember the scene, which is always possible too. Good luck.

Name That Movie, Round 2 Clip 11
It's Name that Movie time again. Bill and Flickhead are the clear leaders but I have a feeling today they will stumble. Just a feeling. Here's the clip:

Name That Movie Round 2, Clip 10
And now we move on to clip 10. Bob has a point and both Flickhead and Bill have four each. Who will be the first to the halfway point of five? Bill? Flickhead? Or will some hot dog be revealed who sweeps through the next ten clips to grab the brass ring? Doubtful but who knows. Here's this week's clip.
*****UPDATE***** In a new land speed record Bill got it seconds after it posted. Congrats Bill!

Name That Movie Bonus Round
I decided to go with a theme today for Name That Movie, and so both clips take place on the water, in comparably sized boats. No smuggling or sharks in this one though.
*****UPDATE*****
Flickhead surges back. See comments for answer. Bill and Flickhead are now tied, 4 to 4.
Name That Movie, Second Round, Clip 8
No, that's not the Orca and the captain's not Quint. But that is one huge-ass shark! Now... Name That Movie!
*****UPDATE*****
Bill has won again. Go to the comment section for the answer. And if you go here you will see that Bill R has become the first ever FOUR-PEATER with Name That Movie! Yes, Flickhead and Arbo both three-peated but Bill is the only one to four-peat. Congratulations Bill. Bonus Round up at noon.
The Inside Dope on Name That Movie...
... is that it will be up today around eleven. And since I missed last week's Name That Movie, a Bonus Round will go up at noon. Good luck to all.

Name that Movie, Round 2, Clip 7
First Flickhead got three in a row, now Bill has two in a row. Can Bill three-peat too? We shall see. Here's the clip.
*****UPDATE*****
Bill has three-peated! The correct answer is The Naked Jungle. It's Chuck Heston and Eleanor Parker battling billions of soldier ants on the march. In my book, that's a "can't miss plot." Congratulations Bill.

Name that Movie Round 2, Clip 6
Name that Movie 25 is up. Who will guess it correctly? We'll find out. Good Luck! By the way, I have to go pick up a neighbor whose car broke down in the snow so it might be a while before I can confirm any guesses.

Name That Movie Round 2, Clip 5 BONUS ROUND
Here's the Bonus Round. I'm betting this will be immediately evident to most anyone who has seen this movie even if they haven't seen it in years. Sometimes I like to throw an easy one out there, although quite frankly, Flickhead (this year's Arbogast) is making them all look easy.
*****UPDATE*****
It has been brought to my attention that while I updated the last post with the winner and the correct guess, I did not do so for this one. My apologies Flickhead for not reminding everyone once again that you got three, yes three, right in a row. Wow, that's amazing! I think it's safe to say we're all really, really impressed. So once again, congratulations to Flickhead.
Oh yeah, and Bill got this one. It's from Blow Out.
Name That Movie Round 2, Clip 4
Here's the fourth clip for Name That Movie. I almost changed it due to something that came to my attention yesterday but decided to keep it. I'll explain that later. For now, here's the clip. Flickhead got the last two in a row. Can he threepeat? We shall see.
*****UPDATE*****
Flickhead has three-peated! Now to explain my previous line about possibly changing it. I upload these a couple of weeks in advance so I'm not coming up with a clip at the last minute. Well, last night I realized the 8 pm movie on TCM was... Stage Door! I didn't change it only because the Oscars were on last night at the same time so I figured most people wouldn't be watching. Anyway, Congrats again Flickhead. And Marilyn and Bill, thanks for playing. Now, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, there will be a bonus round today at 1:00 pm EST. I believe it will be quickly guessed and I don't care, I'm putting it up anyway. Bill - That's your cue! Show up right at two.
The return of Name That Movie, 11:00 A.M. today
Don't forget, Name that Movie returns today at 11:00 a.m., EST. And maybe there will be a bonus round if it's solved quickly. And maybe that bonus round will be stunningly easy. Or maybe not. See you at 11:00.

Name That Movie Round 2, Clip 3
Here's the 3rd clip for the second Name That Movie game currently going on here at Cinema Styles. Bob got the first, Flickhead got the second but who will get the third? This clip is presented a little differently. It has sound as it opens, then goes mute, then sound again then mute again. Why? Because they wouldn't stop saying the character's name that's why. They must say it five times in just four seconds and so I muted it. He's not even a big character in the movie, but out of curiosity, since they say his name so much, I googled it and lo and behold, the movie title populated 8 of the first 10 hits. I googled many different variations of Embassy Club too, just to be on the safe side, and that damn name has been used in so many movies of the period you have a better chance of randomly picking a title from the IMDB database and getting the right one than finding it through that search. So here it is, odd muting and all.

Name That Movie is Just Around the Corner
Name that Movie will be here at 10:30 a.m. today. Going in a different direction than the first round, this round will employ two clips per film but the second one will only be used as a clue if the first clip isn't sufficient for someone to correctly guess it. Although, I am confident that at least a couple of you will know this film well, so the second clip probably won't be needed. Then after the clip has been correctly identified I will put up a segment of the movie that is significant in some way, either to the film itself, to film history or just personally for nostalgic reasons.
All of these changes came about due to my recent metacritical piece on Jim Emerson's Dark Knight posts. I wanted to do more with the technology at hand and since I've got a game going that employs clips every week, it seemed a logical jumping off point. So, at 10:30 this morning (East Coast Time) get your thinking caps on and get ready to Name That Movie!
*****UPDATE***** The clip has been uploaded and is scheduled for a 10:30 posting so it will happen at exactly 10:30.

Relive the Glory Days
Remember that time Pierre got Strike? Or how about when Krauthammer guessed Bulldog Drummond Escapes? Remember when Marilyn struck twice in a row with Passport to Pimlico and then Three Days of the Condor? Or how about when Arbo won again. And again. And again.
Friends, you don't have to rely on shaky memory accounts anymore! Announcing the new running tally of all the clips used for Name That Movie so that we may all relive the stupendous, fabulous and yes, magnificent glory days of the prize-winning guessing game that's sweeping the nation. Did you know that for the first game the decade represented the most was the thirties? Here's how it rolled:
1920's - 1
1930's - 5
1940's - 3
1950's - 1
1960's - 3
1970's - 3
1980's - 2
1990's - 1
So if you want to see who guessed what and which movies were chosen head on over to the home of the clips here. Or if you just want to see Arbogast's name typed in repeatedly, it's good for that too. In fact, it only took nineteen clips to get through the entire first round. I'm looking for the second round to last a bit longer which means I need to mix it up a bit more but still keep it reasonable.
Name That Movie Round 2 Clip 1
And we begin again as Name That Movie, Round 2 gets things rolling. Here's the 20th clip overall and the 1st clip for Round 2. Much trouble with YouTube this morning. It would not process the video so here it is uploaded to Blogger. Good Luck everyone.

UPDATE - This one seems to be stumping everyone so let's go to the clues. It starred one of the queens of seventies cinema. If you know your seventies cinema, only a few actresses should spring to mind. She and her co-star were both Oscar winners before they made this.
