Cinema Still Life: Anders als die Andern

Anders als die Andern (1919). A surviving still from the first film featuring an openly gay relationship on the screen. Being of the time the main character kills himself upon discovery. Goebbels' goons had the film burned but some reels and stills were saved. Pictured above are the two lovers (Fritz Schulz and Conrad Veidt) at a gay ball. Click for larger picture.
